Nobel laureates are highly intelligent and objective academics without vested interests in media or corporations. These wise individuals from diverse backgrounds have greatly contributed to humanity. We must heed their advice and warnings.
In a 2017 survey by Times Higher Education and the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, nearly a quarter of living Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, physics, physiology, medicine, and economics were asked about the greatest threat to humanity. One in three cited population growth and environmental degradation as the top concern – see below graph.
Around 150 million people are estimated to be homeless globally, and about 1.6 billion lack adequate housing.
